Developers

We want to work with the development community.

We are a small friendly team and so should be able to respond quickly to feedback or feature requests*.

Our API

Like playing with geodata? Think our interface is terrible and you know how to do a better job? Or perhaps you run a website whose users have an interest in seeing relevant property information. Whatever your motivation please feel free to use our API to access the Nestoria database. Full details of the Nestoria API

Open Source community

Where possible we aim to contribute to the Open Source community.

OpenStreetMap

We've sponsored several OpenStreetMap events including the State of the Map conference to held in Limerick, Ireland on 12-13 July 2008. We hope to see you there!

OpenStreetMap State of the Map

We also sponsored last year's event in Manchester, run a parallel version of our site that shows the quality of OpenStreetMap maps, and are proud sponsors of Living with Dragons. Read about our part in the first commercial use of OpenStreetMap data.

Mapstraction:

mapstraction

We sponsor Mapstraction. The Mapstraction team has developed a common API for online mapping solutions and free data sources like OpenStreetMap. If you have an interest in online mapping we recommend you give Mapstraction a look.

London Perl Mongers:

London Perl Mongers

We also know there is more to the community than just source code, which is we occasionally sponsor the meetings of London Perl Mongers. We were proud to be the sponsors of the London Perl Workshop in 2007 and 2006.

Learn more about our use of perl in this PerlBuzz review of Nestoria

London Facebook Developers:

We sponsored the first meeting of London Facebook Developers

Open Standards

We support open standards. As examples, all of our RSS feeds are marked up in geoRSS, and we support the OpenSearch format for sharing search results. Our listings are compatible with the emerging hListintg format.

In general, we'd love to hear your thoughts about Nestoria, about how we can improve, and about what sort of features the community would like to see from our API. We look forward to hearing from you.

* unless of course you are an vi user, in which case we can't work together - emacs is better. Much better. In your heart you know it.

Just kidding of course, vi is okay. It's those pico people that drive us crazy.
